A Podcast?!?!…

Well I think I am going to give a podcast cast a go, to be honest I’m not sure if I will even post it’s just something I have wanted to try and I want to see how it turns out to be honest, it will focus on UFC 116 as I have really wanted to do an MMA podcast just to see how it would work and how I would do trying to talk for a while about MMA.

Just to think years ago the UFC Heavyweight division was a joke Tim Sylvia was at the top of the division and having boring fights with people like Jeff Monson but now thanks to fighters like Lesnar, Carwin, Mir and Velasquez the division has never been hotter and UFC 116 has the biggest match of them all for the heavyweight title

Brock Lesnar vs Shane Carwin (Heavyweight title fight)In each of their fights you would have no problem picking a winner as you would favor Lesnar or Carwin over who ever the other was facing and now that they face each other the biggest question will be asked in that which of these men is the better fighter as they are both for sure the real deal but when you have two forces like this crashing against each other one is going down you have to think Brock would be ever so slightly favored in the match just for the fact that Carwin has not really been tested in his MMA career as all of Carwin’s 12 bouts have ended in the first round by KO so you would even with someone that has the power that Lesnar has might want to take the match to the ground and try to ground and pound his way to a win, I think the first round will be a feeling out of each other as Carwin as not faced anyone with Lesnar’s power and the same goes for Lesnar so I don’t see Carwin trying to steamroll over Brock to start the fight I can see them feeling each other out for the first round and I think Lesnar will win in Round 3 by TKO

Yoshihiro Akiyama vs Chris Leben
– Leben took this fight on such short notice that he just had a match at the TUF finals I was looking forward to seeing Silva fight but this still should be intresting as Akiyama wanted a bigger name, So I hope this fuels Leben to go in there and try for the KO but I think having two fights in such a short time may work against Chris and it was a surprise to me that they allowed Leben to take this fight so I think Akiyama will win just for the fact he should be the fresher man and it should happen in Round 2 by Submission

Matt Brown vs Chris Lytle –
‘Lights Out’ Lytle has had 50 matchs so far and I think this experience will be the deciding factor in the match but I dont see a KO or submission but I think he will win by decision but I don’t see this as an easy win I think Brown will win one round and them to have a close round that will favor Lytle

Stephan Bonnar vs Krzysztof Soszynski
– In a rematch from there UFC 110 match which was stopped by Doctor Stoppage thanks to an inadvertent headbutt the UFC has let these two men face each other again, the previous fight was in the third round when it ended but I think this will be different as the second fight is rarely the same as the first but I think Bonnar will win by Round 2 – TKO

Kurt Pellegrino vs George Sotiropoulos –
Sotiropoulos has 6 wins coming into tonight fight and I think he will win by submission in round 1 it’s not that I think Pellegrino is bad or anything but I think Sotiropoulos has some momentum going for him

So this season was coached by Chuck Liddell and Tito Ortiz who was replaced by Rich Franklin for the last episode due to Tito needing surgery and pulling out of his fight with Chuck, to be honest I’ve only seen one episode this season so I won’t make a prediction on the TUF fights as I have no idea what these guys fight like or anything.

Matt Hamill vs. Keith Jardine – I think Jardine is better fighter but Hamill is strong as an ox and can last in fight but I think ‘The Dean of Mean’ will win by decision

Chris Leben vs. Aaron Simpson – You always know with Leben that your going to get a stand up fight and I think he will win by Round 2 Knock Out

Spencer Fisher vs. Dennis Siver – I think Round 3 submission in Siver favor

I know it’s very short but there you go!

For me this was the best UFC event in a while as all the fights where entertaining and it was a night of finishes and great endings and what looks like the last fight from a UFC Hall of Famer anyway here are my thoughts of the matches

Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin was the biggest surprise for me, I underestimated Rich and he knocked out Liddell who has now been stopped in his last three fights and you now have to think this is his last fight in the UFC
All credit to Rich as he broke his arm early in the fight and still managed to KO Chuck with a great punch to the jaw at the end of the first round

After the fight Joe Rogan said he does not want to call another Liddell fight and he should ride into the sunset, to be honest he should have stopped at least two fights ago.

Patrick Barry vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic was exactly what you would think both men stood and traded it was a great display with some great kicks and Cro Cop throwing some kicks we’ve not seen in years and to prove he has a ground game Cro Cop won by choke and then in something we don’t see often Cro Cop asked Dana not to be stingy and give him a bonus for submission of the night or fight of the night and he ended up getting Submission of the night

Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago was a standard fight with Kampmann looking really good in getting the decision win

Gilbert Yvel vs. Ben Rothwell was quite exciting both fighters gave there all in the first round and in the next two rounds worked a lot ton the mat and both gave there all and Rothwell getting the decision win

Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald started the PPV off and they both put on a great show MacDonald really controlled the fight but Condit has a great third round and took the fight to Condit and the fight was stopped 7 seconds left in the last round after landing some great punches and elbows the crowd where not happy as MacDonald was from Canada but it was the right decision for the ref to make but had it went to decision then Rory MacDonald would have likely won

I was three for five in my predictions tonight which was not bad

Well seeing as I’m late in posting this I will focus on the main card

Chuck Liddell vs. Rich Franklin – This should be a really interesting fight and much better than another Chuck vs Tito match which is what this was meant to be, both men need a win Chuck more than Rich if it goes to a decision I would favor Franklin but I see Chuck getting a Round 2 – KO

Patrick Barry vs. Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic – After Cro Cop lost his last fight to Junior Dos Santos he needs to look strong here but we’ve yet to see the old Cro Cop of Pride yet in the UFC but i’d like to think he could win tonight with a Round 3 – TKO

Martin Kampmann vs. Paulo Thiago – I’d like to think that Thiago is the stronger fighter but I see a decision win for him

Ben Rothwell vs. Gilbert Yvel – I heard Ben had to cut weight to make this heavyweight fight which means he’s really going to be heavy going into the fight tonight which I think may gave him an advantage and a decision win

Carlos Condit vs. Rory MacDonald – I think Carlos might have the edge here with a Round 2 – submission
